of a forty something mom

I am not a huge fan of birthdays. I actually think that the mother should get the gifts since she made it through birthing the child. I have nothing against age. I love being in my 40's but I tend to think that some people totally go overboard and spoil the birthday person. Well this year it happened to me!Growing up our birthdays were celebrated but I wouldn't say I was ever spoiled. I am totally ok with that but since it finally happened to me, I have decided to boast a bit!

My birthday is on December 8th, aka as the holy day of the Immaculate Conception. I had a nice day. My co-workers gave me cards, my kids had all called or texted me a typical Wednesday, with just a little extra. That night, my sweet boyfriend, met me for dinner. We went to Typical Sicilian, sat at the bar and really enjoyed our Sausage and Fusilli. He gave me a lovely bottle of Dolce & Gabbana The One Rose perfume. It was lovely and it was all I expected.

Saturday came and he said we were going out to dinner. I offered to get a movie and make some steak. Finally, around noon he announced that we were going up to Montague to Night Kitchen. Night Kitchen is a beautiful rustic (not the "gag me New England" kind) restaurant that is located above a river about 45 minutes from our home. We arrive and to my surprise my best friends and their spouse/fiance were waiting for me! It was perfect. I felt like I was in heaven. We had some awesome wine, fantastic food and a lot of laughs. My dinner ended with pumpkin chai creme brulee with the perfect amount of sugar on top!

So for once I was the spoiled one.....it totally touched my soul. xoxo
